After a poor start to the Serie A season, defending champions Juventus are now firmly back on track and are securing victory after victory both in Serie A and the Champions League where they are safely through to the last 16.


Massimo Allegri changed things around in the summer after losing big names and star performers in Vidal and Tevez, and brought in proven high quality players in goalscorer Mandzukic and also midfielder Khedira. His team beat Palermo 3-0 away from home in their last match to continue their climb up the league table and secure a fourth straight win. Juventus are now up to fifth place and sit seven points behind current leaders Napoli after fourteen games.


Considering the gap in points between Juventus and the sides above them, Juventus cannot afford to drop too many more points if they are to stay in contention to defend their league crown. Fourth placed Roma are three points ahead, with a five point gap to third place Fiorentina and six points to Inter Milan who sit second. Anything but a win here would obviously see the gap increase further.


Lazio are having another average season and are tenth with six wins from their fourteen games. What is worrying for Lazio fans is that they are on a poor run of results and have failed to win any of their last five games in Serie A - those five games being four defeats and a draw including a 3-1 home defeat to AC Milan. Considering Lazio's poor recent form, and the need for Juventus to keep picking up the points, I am leaning towards backing a Juventus win.


Looking at the odds, 2.10 for the away win is tempting, but I prefer to look after my money and will be backing Juventus in the draw no bet market for extra insurance. This is priced at 1.50
